    NBA - Preview 15 Novembre

    Preview: Orlando At Washington
When: 7:00 PM ET, Saturday, November 15, 2014
Where: Verizon Center, Washington, District of Columbia
The Washington Wizards look to continue their best start in franchise history in nearly 40 years when they host the Orlando Magic on Saturday. The Wizards improved to 6-2 for the first time since the 1975-76 season with a 107-103 win over Detroit on Wednesday. However, the record may be a bit hollow since Washington hasn't beaten a team that currently has a winning record and has lost both contests against clubs above .500.
The first time these clubs met this season, Wall dropped 30 points and 12 assists in a 105-98 win Oct. 30. Washington has had two days to rest, while Orlando enters after a 101-85 win over Milwaukee on Friday night. Tobias Harris had a season-high 26 points and 10 rebounds in the 17th straight win at home against the Bucks.
TV: 7 pm. ET, CSN (Washington), FS Florida (Orlando)
ABOUT THE MAGIC (4-6): Guard Victor Oladipo (facial fractures) played for the first time this season Friday and scored 13 points in 25 minutes off the bench. "To be playing the game I love is a good feeling," Oladipo said. "I just wanted to stay patient and play off my teammates, bring some energy to the game." Orlando has won four of six after starting the season with four consecutive losses.
ABOUT THE WIZARDS (6-2): Wall had 27 points and 11 assists against the Pistons and Marcin Gortat had 14 points and 13 rebounds. Washington has steadily improved its defense in the three years under coach Randy Wittman and ranks seventh so far this season, allowing 102.1 points per 100 possessions. The Wizards averaged nearly eight points more during the two full seasons Flip Saunders coached from 2009-11.
    BUZZER BEATERS
    1. Wall is averaging 20 points, nine assists and 2.6 steals this season — the only player in the NBA to hit those thresholds.
    2. Gortat and the Rockets' Dwight Howard are the only players averaging 14 points and nine rebounds and shooting at least 58 percent from the floor.
    3. Magic rookie F Aaron Gordon scored eight points in 15 minutes Friday and made all three of his shots from the field and both attempts from the line.
    PREDICTION: Wizards 97, Magic 89

    Preview: Atlanta At Cleveland
When: 7:30 PM ET, Saturday, November 15, 2014
Where: Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland, Ohio
The Cleveland Cavaliers hope their furious fourth-quarter comeback at Boston was a sign of things to come, especially with the red-hot Atlanta Hawks coming to town Saturday. The Cavaliers answered the bell and rallied from a 19-point deficit to stun the Celtics on Friday and avoid dipping back below .500. They'll face a stronger challenger in the Hawks, who have won four straight after dispatching Miami on Friday.
Cleveland has not lived up to expectations since LeBron James returned, but its star put up a season-high 41 points to fuel Friday's comeback and give the Cavaliers their third straight win. If the Cavs are going to go on a tear, now would be the time — they play eight of their next nine games at home and four of them are against teams with losing records. The Hawks are not included in that group and are coming off an impressive performance against the Heat in which eight players scored in double figures.
TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, SportSouth (Atlanta), FSN Ohio (Cleveland)
ABOUT THE HAWKS (5-3): Atlanta had a chance to showcase its depth against Miami, as Mike Scott, Shelvin Mack and Dennis Schroder all scored in double digits off the bench. The trio provided a nice complement to the starting unit, which hurt the Heat inside and out. Big men Paul Millsap (16.9 points, 8.6 rebounds) and Al Horford (13.9 points, seven rebounds) continue to put up solid numbers in the post, and the backcourt duo of Jeff Teague (16.3 points, 8.0 assists) and Kyle Korver (16.1 points) has been outstanding.
ABOUT THE CAVALIERS (4-3): Cleveland has plenty of offensive firepower with James (27.1 points, 6.7 assists, 6.4 rebounds), Kyrie Irving (22.7 points) and Kevin Love (17.7 points, 10.9 rebounds) all putting up big numbers, but the defensive chemistry hasn't developed yet. James, who moved into 24th on the all-time scoring list Friday with 23,360 points, put the team on his back down the stretch and scored eight of Cleveland's last nine points. The Cavaliers had few answers on defense, though, which is cause for concern against Atlanta's unselfish and balanced attack.
    BUZZER BEATERS
    1. The Haks have won four straight meetings, including two 19-point victories at home last season and a double-overtime win in their last trip to Cleveland.
    2. Atlanta SF DeMarre Carroll, who likely would have drawn the assignment of guarding James for much of the game, will miss his third straight game with a groin injury.
    3. James' next target on the career scoring list is Charles Barkley at 23,757.
    PREDICTION: Cavaliers 101, Hawks 99

    Preview: Utah At Toronto
When: 7:30 PM ET, Saturday, November 15, 2014
Where: Air Canada Centre, Toronto, Ontario
The Toronto Raptors look to rebound from their first home loss of the season when they host the Utah Jazz on Saturday. Toronto fell 100-93 to the Chicago Bulls on Thursday and the Raptors are tied with the Bulls for the best record in the Eastern Conference after getting outplayed in the third quarter. “That’s a good experience for us,” center Jonas Valanciunas told reporters. “We’re coming off the win streak, so that’s good; that’s a cold shower for us.”
Utah is playing the finale of five-game road trip and is 2-2 on the excursion after producing a 102-100 victory over the New York Knicks on Friday. The contest appeared headed to overtime until point guard Trey Burke drained a baseline jumper as time expired to give the Jazz the victory. Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan is struggling with his shooting, going 7-of-32 from the field over the last two games.
TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, ROOT (Utah), Sportsnet One (Toronto)
ABOUT THE JAZZ (4-6): Forward Gordon Hayward recorded his second 30-point outing of the road trip when he had a terrific all-around game in the win over the Knicks. Hayward scored a season-high 33 points and also has six assists and four steals, two games after scoring 30 points against the Indiana Pacers. After landing a four-year, $63 million contract in the offseason as a restricted free agent, Hayward is stepping up as the go-to player Utah has long desired to see.
ABOUT THE RAPTORS (7-2): Reserve forward James Johnson has been surprisingly good and scored 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting in the loss to Chicago. Johnson became just the sixth player in franchise history to have four steals and four blocked shots in the same game. Forward Tyler Hansbrough left the Chicago game with a back injury but surely would like to play against the Jazz as his season-high point total of 23 last season came against Utah.
    BUZZER BEATERS
    1. Toronto won both of last season's meetings.
    2. Utah PF Derrick Favors had 21 points and 12 rebounds against New York and is averaging 17.5 points and 9.5 rebounds on the road trip.
    3. The Raptors have won 31 consecutive games when leading after three quarters.
    PREDICTION: Raptors 111, Jazz 95

    Preview: Indiana At Chicago
When: 8:00 PM ET, Saturday, November 15, 2014
    Where: United Center, Chicago, Illinois
Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose may sit out another game when his team hosts the Indiana Pacers on Saturday. Rose suffered a mild hamstring strain in the fourth quarter of Thursday’s win against the Raptors. He was limited to 49 regular-season games the last two years because of knee injuries and the 2011 NBA Most Valuable Player missed four games earlier this season with sprained ankles.
The Pacers have been floored by their own injuries, starting with the fractured tibia Paul George suffered in early August and continuing when CJ Miles left in the first quarter of Friday’s loss to the Nuggets with a sore right calf. Indiana was also without David West (right ankle), George Hill (left knee) and C.J. Watson (foot), who have yet to play this season. Bulls center Pau Gasol, meanwhile, has continued his rebirth in Chicago, scoring in double figures in every game this season, including six double-doubles, while shooting 51.1 percent from the floor.
TV: 8 p.m. ET, WGN (Chicago), FS Indiana
ABOUT THE PACERS (3-7): One of the few bright spots for Indiana has been guard A.J. Price, who’s in his second stint with the Pacers after he was drafted 52nd overall by the club in 2009 and spent his first three seasons with the organization. Price watched the first two games of this season from the Cleveland bench before he was dealt to his former team, then went out and scored 22 points earlier this week against the Jazz. He came back with a team-high 14 points off the bench against Denver.
ABOUT THE BULLS (7-2): Jimmy Butler’s dream start to the season continued with 21 points, six assists and nine rebounds in the team's most recent win against the Raptors. The fourth-year shooting guard is averaging a team-high 19.7 points - 10.5 points higher than his career average. He’s been just as much a force on defense, helping limit Toronto guard DeMar DeRozan to 10 points on 3-for-17 shooting.
    BUZZER BEATERS
    1. The Pacers didn’t have seven losses last season until Jan. 8.
    2. The Bulls have won their first five road games for the first time since 1996-97.
    3. Bulls G Mike Dunleavy, in his 13th season in the NBA, had his best year when he was a member of the Pacers in 2007-08, averaging 19.1 points and shooting 42.4 percent from 3-point range while playing all 82 games for the only time in his career.
    PREDICTION: Pacers 94, Bulls 90

    Preview: Detroit At Memphis
When: 8:00 PM ET, Saturday, November 15, 2014
    Where: FedExForum, Memphis, Tennessee
The Memphis Grizzlies look to continue two long streaks Saturday when they host the Detroit Pistons. Memphis has won 18 straight regular-season home contests and has beaten the Pistons nine straight times dating to Jan. 27, 2010. The Grizzlies, who are off to the best start in franchise history, are coming off an improbable 111-110 triumph over a stunned Sacramento club Thursday.
Memphis rallied from a 26-point deficit against the Kings and won when Courtney Lee made a back-cut and took a sideline inbounds lob pass in the air with three-tenths of a second remaining and converted a reverse layup before coming back to the court. "I stole that play from Alvin Gentry when I was coaching a game for (Memphis coach Lionel Hollins) a few years against the Phoenix Suns," Memphis coach Dave Joerger said. "They ran it for Jason Richardson with four-tenths of a second remaining and beat us." Detroit is completing a four-game road trip, having snaped a three-game slide Friday at Oklahoma City, and is hoping to win the second of back-to-back games for the first time in three tries this season.
TV: 8 p.m. ET, FSN (Detroit), and SportSouth (Memphis)
ABOUT THE PISTONS (3-6): The last win for Detroit in the series was the 2009-10 season-opener when current Memphis forward Tayshaun Prince had 14 points, five rebounds and three assists. Brandon Jennings had his second straight big night Friday, scoring eight of his 29 points within a 70-second span in overtime to beat the Thunder 96-89. Jennings scored 25 points after intermission and finished with five 3-pointers and five assists two nights after producing 32 points and 10 assists against Washington.
ABOUT THE GRIZZLIES (8-1): Mike Conley had 22 points and 11 assists in the biggest comeback in franchise history Thursday, but the bench had its best outing of the season. The reserves shot 19-of-27 for 50 points – 27 more than their average, which ranks second-to-last in the NBA. Lee led the way with 16 and slumping Vince Carter added a season-high 11 for a unit that entered the game shooting a league-low 37.2 percent. "What the second unit did in the first half of the game made it doable for us to get it back in the second," Joerger said. "That was the difference."
    BUZZER BEATERS
    1. Prior to the Kings game, the Grizzlies had overcome two 25-point deficits in franchise history.
    2. Memphis reserves averaged 32.9 points and shot 47.4 percent last season – second best behind champion San Antonio.
    3. Memphis hasn't dropped a home contest in the regular season since Feb. 3, 2013, versus Dallas.
    PREDICTION: Grizzlies 97, Pistons 81

    Preview: Minnesota At Dallas
When: 8:30 PM ET, Saturday, November 15, 2014
Where: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas
The Minnesota Timberwolves don't get a chance to lick their wounds following a historic beating, as they face another Western Conference playoff contender Saturday. A night after suffering a 139-91 pounding at New Orleans, the Timberwolves travel to Dallas to take on the Mavericks, who have won two straight. The Mavericks were on the other end of a rout Thursday, pummeling Philadelphia 123-70.
Both teams set franchise records in their last games — Dallas' 53-point victory was its largest ever, and Minnesota's 48-point defeat is unmatched in club history. "I am at a loss for words," Minnesota guard Kevin Martin told reporters. "Being a competitor, you don't wish nights like this on anyone. We just have to stick together, get through this storm." Minnesota won three of four meetings last season and has won in its last two trips to Dallas, including a 123-122 overtime win in its last visit March 19.
TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, FSN North (Minnesota), FSN Southwest (Dallas)
ABOUT THE TIMBERWOLVES (2-6): Things seemingly couldn't get worse for Minnesota, which saw New Orleans shoot 66.7 percent from the floor and go 15-for-20 from 3-point range while losing its fourth straight game. The Timberwolves already are young, and now they're shorthanded with point guard Ricky Rubio nursing a sore ankle and power forward Thaddeus Young away from the team following his mother's death. A pair of rookies — Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine — joined veteran Corey Brewer as the only players who scored in double digits Friday, and that won't suffice against a high-scoring Dallas team.
ABOUT THE MAVERICKS (6-3): Dallas has been one of the most impressive offensive teams in the league, leading the NBA in scoring (107.1) and ranking second in field goal percentage (48.2). Dirk Nowitzki (20.9 points, 5.7 rebounds) is still the go-to guy at the offensive end, but he has a strong supporting cast in Monta Ellis (17.1 points) and Chandler Parsons (14.2 points). Big man Tyson Chandler has solidified the Mavericks' post defense and is also effective on the offensive glass with 3.6 of his 9.8 rebounds per game coming at that end of the floor.
    BUZZER BEATERS
    1. All four meetings last season were decided by eight points or fewer.
    2. The Mavericks have had at least five players score in double figures in seven of their nine games.
    3. The Timberwolves have not shot 45 percent or better from the field in any of their last six games.
    PREDICTION: Mavericks 112, Timberwolves 93

    Preview: Brooklyn At Portland
When: 10:00 PM ET, Saturday, November 15, 2014
Where: Moda Center at the Rose Quarter, Portland, Oregon
The Portland Trail Blazers look to win their fourth consecutive game when they host the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday. The Trail Blazers are the second-highest scoring team in the NBA and put up 84 points in the first half en route to a 130-113 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday. Portland has scored over 100 points in each of its last six games and hopes for more offensive fireworks as it aims to beat the Nets for the third straight time.
Brooklyn has lost two games in a row following its 107-99 setback to the Golden State Warriors. The Nets are in danger of falling below the .500 mark and hope to conclude their three-game Western road swing with a much-needed victory against a Trail Blazers team that scored 124 points in their last meeting on Feb. 26. "We've got to figure out how to be a really good team all the time," point guard Deron Williams told reporters. "We're still figuring things out and I don't think there's any reason to panic."
TV: 10 p.m ET, NBATV, CSN Northwest (Portland), YES (Brooklyn)
ABOUT THE NETS (4-4): Jarrett Jack came off the bench to score a season-high 23 points, on 10-of-10 shooting against his former team in the loss to the Warriors. Williams, who is the reigning Eastern Conference Player of the Week, scored 18 points and dished out five assists versus Golden State. Brooklyn went just 3-of-16 from 3-point range on Thursday - with Alan Anderson missing all six of his attempts - and has shot just 31% from beyond the arc in its last three games.
ABOUT THE TRAIL BLAZERS (6-3): Point guard Damian Lillard led the way with 27 points as Portland shot 51.1 percent from the floor and drained 16 3-pointers in the win over the Nuggets. Small forward Nicolas Batum has missed the last two games with a knee injury and will likely sit out Saturday's contest as well as he hopes to return to the lineup against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday. Portland leads the NBA with 47.2 rebounds per game, but has lost the battle of the boards in two of its last three outings.
    BUZZER BEATERS
    1. The Trail Blazers have beaten the Nets in four out of the last five meetings at the Moda Center.
    2. Portland has won four straight home games.
    3. Brooklyn shot a season-low 43.8 percent from the floor on Thursday.
PREDICTION: Trail Blazers 109, Nets 95

    Preview: San Antonio At Sacramento
When: 10:00 PM ET, Saturday, November 15, 2014
Where: Sleep Train Arena, Sacramento, California
The Sacramento Kings have experienced trouble holding leads and attempt to end a three-game losing streak when they host the San Antonio Kings on Saturday. Sacramento lost to Dallas on Tuesday after leading by 24 points and then blew another lead Thursday as Memphis overcame a 26-point deficit to defeat the Kings. “We built a 26-point lead and threw it away,” Sacramento coach Michael Malone told reporters. “We didn’t deserve to win that game.”
The Spurs have won the first three games of a four-game road trip after cruising to a 93-80 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday. Power forward Tim Duncan had 13 points and 11 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season and also became the 19th player in NBA history to reach 25,000 career points. San Antonio has enjoyed a lot of success against the Kings, winning 11 straight in Sacramento as well as the last nine overall.
TV: 10 p.m. ET, FSN Southwest (San Antonio), CSN California (Sacramento)
ABOUT THE SPURS (5-3): With two games in Los Angeles during this road trip, 2014 NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard had to field several rounds of questions regarding whether or not he plans to stay with San Antonio. Leonard, who grew about an hour east of Los Angeles in the Riverside area, will be a restricted free agent after the season since he and the Spurs didn’t reach a deal prior to the recent deadline. “We’ll see what happens next summer,” Leonard told reporters, “but I’m pretty sure I’ll be in a Spurs’ jersey for my whole life.”
ABOUT THE KINGS (5-4): The impressive 5-1 start has taken a hit with Sacramento’s inability to protect large leads, and small forward Rudy Gay is demoralized over the collapses. “It definitely is heartbreaking,” Gay told reporters. “That’s the difference in a battle-tested playoff team and us.” Malone went one step further, saying after the Memphis setback, “We have to learn to play with the lead. I am very disappointed with this loss.”
    BUZZER BEATERS
    1. The Spurs won 99-79 in their lone visit to Sacramento last season.
    2. Duncan has four career 20-point, 20-rebound outings against the Kings.
    3. Sacramento SG Ben McLemore is 11-of-20 from 3-point range over the past three games.
    PREDICTION: Kings 108, Spurs 105

    Preview: Charlotte At Golden State
When: 10:30 PM ET, Saturday, November 15, 2014
    Where: Oracle Arena, Oakland, California
The Golden State Warriors are adjusting to the methods of first-year coach Steve Kerr and look for another victory when they host the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday. Golden State has a 6-2 mark under the coach who replaced Mark Jackson after defeating the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday. “We’re still sort of adjusting and trying to find our identity,” Kerr told reporters. “I want them to be explosive, but a little less wild. It can be done, but it’s tricky.”
Charlotte won for the first time in five road games this season when it posted a 103-95 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Friday. The Hornets let a 23-point lead get away in a road tilt against Portland earlier in the week, keeping them winless until the victory over the Suns. The Warriors started 5-0 before suffering back-to-back defeats but got back in the win column with a 107-99 victory over the Nets.
TV: 10:30 p.m., SportSouth (Charlotte), CSN Bay Area (Golden State)
ABOUT THE HORNETS (4-5): Point guard Kemba Walker scored a team-high 19 points in the win over the Suns and is averaging 17.3 points on the road trip. Overall, he has scored in double digits in seven straight games but his playmaking production could use a boost. Walker has recorded four or fewer assists in six of Charlotte’s nine games and has reached double figures just once.
ABOUT THE WARRIORS (6-2): Center Andrew Bogut had a terrific all-around game against Brooklyn with 11 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and four blocked shots. The double-double was Bogut’s second of the season and he has five double-digit games on the boards, led by an 18-rebound performance against the Houston Rockets on Nov. 8. Shooting guard Klay Thompson returned from a hand injury to average 27 points over the past two games, making 9-of-15 3-point shots.
    BUZZER BEATERS
    1. Charlotte won both of last season’s meetings.
    2. Golden State committed just 11 turnovers in the win over Brooklyn after committing 73 over its previous three games.
    3. Hornets F Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (foot) sat out against Phoenix and is doubtful to play against the Warriors.
    PREDICTION: Warriors 108, Hornets 101

    Preview: Phoenix At L.A. Clippers
When: 10:30 PM ET, Saturday, November 15, 2014
Where: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California
The Los Angeles Clippers will try to put another round of distractions aside when they host the Phoenix Suns on Saturday night. On Tuesday it was announced that All Star forward Blake Griffin had been charged with misdemeanor battery for an incident in Las Vegas last month. At least this version of the Clippers is accustomed to playing amid distractions following the Donald Sterling drama that enveloped the organization during last season’s playoffs.
Los Angeles has been off since Monday, while the Suns will take the court less than 24 hours after losing to the visiting Hornets, a game in which Phoenix led by 14 points at the end of the first quarter. Isaiah Thomas and Gerald Green, who have been so productive off the bench this season, combined for nine points on 2-for-13 shooting in the loss to Charlotte. Phoenix guard Eric Bledsoe is coming off his best game of the season, totaling 22 points and matching his career high with 11 rebounds, and he should be fired up to play against his former team.
TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, FS Arizona (Phoenix), FS Prime Ticket (Los Angeles)
ABOUT THE SUNS (5-4): Miles Plumlee barely sniffed the floor during his rookie season in Indiana two years ago, but has been a great pickup by Phoenix. The 6-foot-11 center averaged 8.1 points and 7.8 rebounds while starting 79 games last season and has been just as solid this fall. He'll face a tough matchup against Clippers center DeAndre Jordan, though Plumlee reached double figures in scoring in the last two games against Los Angeles last season.
ABOUT THE CLIPPERS (4-3): The Clippers aren’t playing up to their capability so far this season and a big reason is they’re not shooting the ball well. Griffin, Chris Paul, Jamal Crawford, J.J. Redick and Matt Barnes all are shooting below their career percentages. If there’s a bright spot, it has been Jordan, who’s averaging 8.6 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 70 percent from the floor.
    BUZZER BEATERS
    1. Clippers backup C Spencer Hawes returned to practice Friday after being slowed by a strained foot earlier in the week.
    2. Suns G Goran Dragic, the team’s leading scorer last season at 20.2 a game, has reached 20 points just once this season.
    3. Phoenix is beginning a season-long six-game road trip.
    PREDICTION: Clippers 107, Suns 105
