    NHL - Preview 3 Aprile

    Preview: Chicago at Buffalo
When: 7:00 PM ET, Friday, April 3, 2015
Where: First Niagara Center, Buffalo, New York
With a postseason berth secured, the Chicago Blackhawks attempt to move closer to a division title when they visit the Buffalo Sabres on Friday. Chicago clinched a spot in the playoffs with a 3-1 home triumph over Vancouver on Thursday as captain Jonathan Toews snapped a tie eight minutes into the third period and Marcus Kruger recorded a goal and an assist.
The Blackhawks are three points behind Central Division-leading Nashville and one in back of second-place St. Louis, which plays in Dallas on Friday. Chicago looks to extend its winning streak to four games when it takes on Buffalo, which has posted back-to-back victories for the first time since Feb. 24 and 26. The Sabres, who are last in the league but just two points behind Arizona, have not captured three in a row since recording a four-game winning streak from Dec. 9-15. The Blackhawks rolled past Buffalo at home on Oct. 11 as six different players scored in a 6-2 victory.
TV: 7 p.m. ET, CSN Chicago, MSG (Buffalo)
ABOUT THE BLACKHAWKS (47-24-6): Chicago secured its seventh consecutive trip to the playoffs, marking the first time it has qualified for seven straight postseasons since 1991-97. The Blackhawks agreed to terms with center Tanner Kero on a two-year contract Thursday. The 22-year-old, who will report to Rockford of the American Hockey League, recorded a career-high 46 points in 41 games as a senior with Michigan Tech this season.
ABOUT THE SABRES (22-47-8): Rasmus Ristolainen is likely to return to the lineup against Chicago after missing Wednesday's triumph over Toronto due to the flu. The 20-year-old Finnish defenseman has scored a goal in each of his last three games. Tyler Ennis, who leads the team in both goals (19) and points (42), was back in action Wednesday after sitting out two contests with an upper-body injury.
    OVERTIME
    1. Blackhawks G Corey Crawford is one victory away from matching his career high of 33 set in 2010-11.
    2. Buffalo LW Matt Ellis failed to get on the scoresheet over his first 33 games of the season before registering a goal and an assist against Toronto on Wednesday.
    3. Toews' game-winning goal Thursday was his sixth of the season, two shy of his career high set in 2010-11.
    TRENDS
Blackhawks are 6-0 in the last 6 meetings vs Sabres.
Blackhawks are 7-2 in their last 9 vs. a team with a losing record.

    Preview: Montreal at New Jersey
When: 7:00 PM ET, Friday, April 3, 2015
Where: Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey
The Montreal Canadiens look to bolster their lead in the Atlantic Division and pull even in points atop the Eastern Conference when they visit the skidding New Jersey Devils on Friday. The Canadiens, who play three of their final four games on the road, are clinging to a one-point advantage over Tampa Bay in the division and trail the New York Rangers for first in the conference.
Defenseman P.K. Subban scored his career-high 15th goal and added two assists in Montreal's wild 5-4 shootout loss to Washington on Thursday. "It's nice to get a point, but obviously you want to get the win," said Subban, who has netted two goals and set up three others during his three-game point streak, and his six assists helped the Canadiens claim the first two meetings with the Devils. Punchless New Jersey hasn't put up much of a fight of late, scoring fewer than three goals in each contest of its season-high six-game losing streak (0-4-2). Mike Cammalleri recorded his fifth two-goal performance of the season in a 3-2 setback to Columbus on Tuesday and has scored twice versus Montreal this season.
TV: 7 p.m. ET, RSN360, RDS (Montreal), MSG Plus (New Jersey)
ABOUT THE CANADIENS (47-22-9): Lars Eller scored versus the Capitals and has two goals and an assist during his three-game point streak. Tomas Plekanec has netted three goals against New Jersey this season - including two in a 6-2 triumph on Feb. 7. David Desharnais joined Subban by notching three assists in that contest and Max Pacioretty had two after scoring in the first meeting - a 4-2 victory on Jan. 15.
ABOUT THE DEVILS (31-33-13): Keith Kinkaid has been victimized by Montreal for nine goals on 69 shots this season but is expected to get the nod on Friday. "They say the third time is a charm, so, hopefully it is," Kinkaid told the Bergen (N.J.) Record. Stephen Gionta likely will miss the contest with a lower-back injury, with rookie Reid Boucher is expected to be inserted into the lineup after serving two games as a healthy scratch.
    OVERTIME
    1. Montreal G Dustin Tokarski has dropped five of his last six decisions (1-3-2) and has yet to face New Jersey in his career.
    2. Devils C Adam Henrique leads the team with 41 points but has recorded just one (an assist) in his last six contests.
    3. The Canadiens have scored four power-play goals over their last three games but have yielded five tallies while short-handed in that span.
    TRENDS
Canadiens are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. a team with a losing record.
Canadiens are 7-2 in the last 9 meetings in New Jersey.
Canadiens are 1-4 in their last 5 overall.
Devils are 1-6 in their last 7 vs. a team with a winning % above .600.
Devils are 0-6 in their last 6 overall.
Devils are 9-2 in their last 11 games playing on 2 days rest.
Over is 3-0-2 in Canadiens last 5 overall.
Over is 2-0-2 in Canadiens last 4 road games.
Under is 4-0 in Devils last 4 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
Under is 29-12-10 in Devils last 51 home games.
    GOALIES
    CANADIENS - Dustin Tokarski (6-6-3, 2.81, 0.910)
    DEVILS - Keith Kinkaid (5-5-3, 2.47, 0.918) Confirmed

    Preview: St. Louis at Dallas
When: 8:30 PM ET, Friday, April 3, 2015
Where: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas
Less than 24 hours after clinching a playoff spot, the St. Louis Blues continue their quest for a division crown when they visit the Dallas Stars on Friday. St. Louis wrapped up a postseason berth for the fourth consecutive campaign and the 39th time in franchise history with Thursday's 4-1 victory over Calgary.
Four different players recorded a goal and an assist apiece as the Blues climbed within two points of Nashville for first place in the Central Division with a game in hand. Dallas' chances of qualifying for the postseason are slim at best, as it trails Los Angeles by six points for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference with five games remaining. The Stars haven't helped themselves in the race, losing two of their last three contests - including a 5-3 setback against the Flames on Monday. The trend in the five-game season series favors St. Louis on Friday as the road team won each of the first four meetings.
TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, FSN Midwest (St. Louis), FSN Southwest (Dallas)
ABOUT THE BLUES (47-23-7): Jaden Schwartz was one of the four players with a goal and an assist Thursday, setting a personal best in the process. The 22-year-old raised his season total to a career-high 58 points, two more than his output from last season, and matched the 25-goal mark he also reached in 2013-14. St. Louis is expected to again be without its top two scorers in Vladimir Tarasenko (71 points) and Alex Steen (62) due to lower-body injuries.
ABOUT THE STARS (37-30-10): Dallas could receive a boost as Valeri Nichushkin was recalled from his conditioning assignment with Texas of the American Hockey League on Thursday and may be in the lineup against the Blues. The 20-year-old Russian, who registered 34 points as a rookie last season, went scoreless in four games before suffering a hip injury that required surgery. "He's real excited to be back playing," coach Lindy Ruff said. "To be back here and have the opportunity to play, he is real excited."
    OVERTIME
    1. Stars D Jordie Benn may return to the lineup Friday after missing two contests with a back injury.
    2. Blues G Jake Allen posted his 20th victory versus Calgary, making the Blues one of two teams in the league (New York Rangers) with two goaltenders to reach the plateau. Brian Elliott, who has recorded 23 wins, is expected to start Friday.
    3. Dallas C Shawn Horcoff did not practice Thursday due to an illness and is questionable for the game against St. Louis.
    TRENDS
Blues are 5-2 in the last 7 meetings in Dallas.
Blues are 13-6 in their last 19 road games.
Blues are 1-4 in their last 5 games playing on 0 days rest.
Stars are 4-1 in their last 5 games playing on 3 or more days rest.
Stars are 8-3 in their last 11 overall.
Stars are 3-8 in their last 11 vs. Western Conference.
Under is 4-1-1 in Blues last 6 road games.
Over is 6-2-3 in Blues last 11 games playing on 0 days rest.
Over is 4-1 in Stars last 5 overall.
Under is 5-2 in Stars last 7 home games.
    GOALIES
    BLUES - Brian Elliott (24-14-3, 2.20, 0.919)
    STARS - Kari Lehtonen (34-16-10, 2.88, 0.906)

    Preview: Colorado at Anaheim
When: 10:00 PM ET, Friday, April 3, 2015
    Where: Honda Center, Anaheim, California
With their third straight Pacific Division title already secured, the Anaheim Ducks continue their quest for the Presidents' Trophy when they host the Colorado Avalanche on Friday. Anaheim skated to its fourth straight victory and 50th of the season with a 5-1 triumph over Edmonton on Wednesday.
"In baseball, they'd be having a champagne party here, but this isn't baseball," coach Bruce Boudreau told the Orange County Register. "To us, it's another step closer to solidifying where we want to be." While Anaheim awaits the postseason, Colorado has dropped five of seven (2-4-1) and is clinging to its faint hopes as it resides eight points behind Winnipeg for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference. The Avalanche will complete a three-game trek versus Los Angeles on Saturday before finishing the regular season with three consecutive home games.
TV: 10 p.m. ET, RSN, Altitude (Colorado), Prime Ticket (Anaheim)
ABOUT THE AVALANCHE (35-30-12): Although admitting the deck clearly is stacked against his club, Matt Duchene isn't interested in letting up over the final five games of the season. "We want to win all of them," Duchene told the Denver Post after he scored the lone goal in a 5-1 setback to San Jose on Wednesday. "You never know. We want to give ourselves a chance still. Until we're mathematically eliminated, we want to win games."
ABOUT THE DUCKS (50-22-7): Corey Perry scored his team-leading 33rd goal against the Oilers for his 600th career point and also tallied twice this season against Colorado, including netting the overtime winner in a 3-2 victory on March 20. The Ducks have won four straight meetings with the Avalanche and hold a two-point lead over the New York Rangers in the race for the Presidents' Trophy. Ryan Kesler is expected to return to the lineup after sitting out Wednesday's tilt due to a minor arm injury and defenseman Clayton Stoner (lower body) also could face the Avalanche.
    OVERTIME
    1. Anaheim LW Andrew Cogliano, who recorded a goal and an assist versus Edmonton, was selected as the team's nominee for the 2014-15 Bill Masterton Trophy on Thursday.
    2. Colorado's Reto Berra will receive his second straight start and fellow G Semyon Varlamov will get the call Saturday versus Los Angeles.
    3. The Ducks are 1-for-16 on the power play in their last eight games.
    TRENDS
Avalanche are 2-5 in their last 7 overall.
Avalanche are 1-4 in their last 5 road games.
Avalanche are 1-5 in their last 6 vs. Western Conference.
Ducks are 4-0 in their last 4 overall.
Ducks are 4-1 in their last 5 Friday games.
Ducks are 35-17 in their last 52 games playing on 1 days rest.
Over is 3-1-1 in Avalanche last 5 overall.
Under is 18-6-3 in Avalanche last 27 vs. a team with a winning record.
Under is 7-1-1 in Ducks last 9 vs. a team with a losing record.
Over is 3-1-1 in Ducks last 5 home games.
    GOALIES
    AVALANCHE - Reto Berra (3-4-1, 2.98, 0.905) Confirmed
    DUCKS - Frederik Andersen (34-11-5, 2.37, 0.914)

    Preview: Arizona at San Jose
When: 10:00 PM ET, Friday, April 3, 2015
Where: SAP Center at San Jose, San Jose, California
The San Jose Sharks attempt to move closer to a postseason berth when they host the Arizona Coyotes on Friday in the opener of a home-and-home series. San Jose enters the contest trailing Los Angeles by five points for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference with five games remaining.
The Sharks have climbed back into contention with a surge that continued Wednesday, when they rolled to a 5-1 victory over Colorado to improve to 3-0-1 in their last four contests. Arizona has fallen into the basement in the West by losing 10 of its last 12 contests (2-9-1). The most recent defeat was a 4-1 setback on Monday in Buffalo, which is just four points behind the Coyotes for 29th place in the NHL. San Jose is 2-0-1 in the five-game season series, which has seen the road team win each of the first three contests and concludes Saturday in Arizona.
TV: 10 p.m. ET, FSN Arizona, CSN Plus California (San Jose)
ABOUT THE COYOTES (23-46-8): Arizona will be glad to hit the road as Monday's loss was its eighth straight at home (0-7-1). The Coyotes haven't fared much better away from Gila River Arena, however, losing eight of their last 10 (2-8-0). Mike Smith is looking to avoid the dubious distinction of being the first goaltender with 40 regulation losses since Marc Denis recorded 41 in 2002-03 with Columbus
ABOUT THE SHARKS (38-30-9): Antti Niemi, who has watched the last three games from the bench due to an illness, may return to the crease Friday. Alex Stalock, who went 2-0-1 while filling in, also has been hit with the illness. "Al isn't feeling that good," coach Todd McLellan told the San Jose Mercury News. "It's his turn now. We'll see how he is (Friday) morning, but because of that, we're probably leaning toward (Niemi)."
    OVERTIME
    1. The Sharks' streak of 10 consecutive playoff appearances is in jeopardy.
    2. Arizona's Oliver Ekman-Larsson leads the team with 21 goals, a total that also tops all NHL defensemen.
    3. San Jose recalled D Karl Stollery from Worcester of the American Hockey League on Friday.
    TRENDS
Coyotes are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings vs Sharks.
Coyotes are 3-13 in their last 16 vs. a team with a losing record.
Coyotes are 1-6 in their last 7 vs. Pacific.
Sharks are 4-10 in their last 14 home games.

Sharks are 5-1 in their last 6 Friday games.
Under is 10-3-2 in Coyotes last 15 overall.
Under is 6-1 in Coyotes last 7 vs. Western Conference.
Under is 5-1 in Sharks last 6 games following a win.
Under is 5-2 in Sharks last 7 games playing on 1 days rest.

    COYOTES - Mike Smith (13-39-5, 3.14, 0.904)
    SHARKS - Antti Niemi (29-22-7, 2.62, 0.914)

    P.S. Quest'anno sull'hockey sei in attivo o in passivo @gurupoker?
